Lactuca virosa (Opium lettuce, Wild Lettuce)

The dried milk-sap or boiled leaves of Lactuca virosa are mildly narcotic. The milky fluid secreted is called Lactucarium. Lactucarium is usually made from the base of the stems. Lactucarium is known as lettuce opium because of its sedative and analgesic properties.

Erythroxylum coca

Coca is a plant in the family Erythroxylaceae, native to north-western South America. The plant plays a significant role in traditional Andean culture. Traditional medical uses of coca are foremost as a stimulant to overcome fatigue, hunger, and thirst. It is considered particularly effective against altitude sickness. It also is used as an anaesthetic.

Outside of South America, in most countries coca leafs, seeds and other parts of the plant are prohibited.
